Junior League roundup – Under-14s on cusp of title glory

The Spanish Soccer School Under-14s are on the verge of securing the Dubai Sports City Junior League title in their age group after their narrow 4-3 win over Alliance Football Club over the weekend.

The result sees them locked on points with second-placed Alliance FC, with the home side having conceded just six goals all season, in contrast to Alliance’s 22.

But it’s not just a two-horse race atop the Under-14 tables: Go Pro A are just a point behind the frontrunners and both Iniesta and Alliance need a win to guarantee them the title.

They ensured they are still in the running for the title with a win over sister outfit Go Pro B.

With just one game left in the season, the rest of the table could also change. Le Club France and FC Barcelona are separated by just the one point, with Le Club picking up three points against their opponents who did not fulfill their fixture.

There’s slightly more breathing room in Division B, where SSS Silva hold a two point gap second placed Desert Rangers (23).

Silva ensured they maintained their position atop the table with a handsome 8-0 win over bottom side Go Pro.

Although they are out of the running for the title, third-placed GC United have a game in hand over the top two and could very well play the role of kingmakers in the final round of matches.

SSS Iniesta may have a six-point cushion over the Blue Camels in second place, but they also know how quickly the tide can turn: they did their job with two wins on the day, the first against SSS Silva (3-2) and the second over Arsenal (7-0).

Teams know how crucial victories are at this stage, and SSS Silva will do their best to spoil the party atop the table: they inflicted what could be a lasting 2-0 defeat on the Blue Camels.

The Camels though ensured they are still very much in the title race following their narrow 1-0 win over the KAFO Academy.

Elsewhere, Alliance recorded a large 9-0 win over Inspire Sports, before succumbing to Arsenal in a narrow 2-1 defeat.
